59 Piano Summer | Pianist Gabriele Sutkutė

The 59th Summer of Piano Music – a piano music festival that upholds the tradition of sharing music created by the composer and painter M. K. Čiurlionis – invites you back to the apple orchard!

As every year, from Midsummer to September, every Wednesday and Saturday, listeners are invited to the apple orchard of the Čiurlionis House-Museum in Druskininkai to experience the latest creative explorations of the most renowned Lithuanian pianists of all generations. One of them is pianist GABRIELĖ SUTKUTĖ, noted for her strong temperament and “excellent precision and musicality”, who has performed in prestigious venues such as Wigmore Hall, Cadogan Hall, Steinway Hall UK, Musikhuset Aarhus, and the Lithuanian National Philharmonic.

Pianist GABRIELĖ SUTKUTĖ is known for her strong temperament and “excellent precision and musicality” (Rasa Murauskaitė, “7 meno dienos”). She actively performs and has appeared in prestigious venues such as Wigmore Hall, Cadogan Hall, Steinway Hall UK, Musikhuset Aarhus, and the Lithuanian National Philharmonic. Gabrielė actively performs not only as a soloist but also with various chamber ensembles and orchestras. She has been invited to perform twice with the Kaunas String Quartet, and in 2023, she performed E. Grieg’s piano concerto with the Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra (conductor - James Blair) and the Bedfordshire Symphony Orchestra (conductor - Michael Rose). Gabrielė has won twenty international competitions, where she also received special prizes. She won the first prize at the Chappell Medal Piano Competition 2023 and the second prize and audience prize at the Birmingham International Piano Competition 2022. In the VIII International M. K. Čiurlionis Pianist and Organist Competition in 2019, she won the third prize, the audience prize, and the “Impetus Musicus” concert prize. For her achievements in international competitions, Gabrielė has been awarded letters of commendation from the President of Lithuania, Dalia Grybauskaitė, and the President of Lithuania, Gitanas Nausėda, six times. Gabrielė has participated in masterclasses with renowned musicians such as S. Kovacevich, N. Lugansky, I. Cooper, O. Kern, P. Geniušas, and many others. In 2016, she graduated from the Kaunas Juozas Naujalis Music Gymnasium (teacher Birutė Kumpikienė). From 2016 to 2022, Gabrielė studied in the class of Professor Christopher Elton and graduated with the highest honors for her bachelor's and master's degrees from the Royal Academy of Music in London. For her outstanding performance in her final master's recital, she was also awarded the DipRAM diploma. In 2023, Gabrielė completed her Artist Diploma studies at the Royal College of Music in London (professors Vanessa Latarche and Sofya Gulyak).
