International Greco-Roman wrestling tournament "Druskininkai Cup"

The traditional Greco-Roman wrestling tournament "Druskininkai Cup" will be held on the weekend in Druskininkai. The competition has gained incredible popularity in the wrestling community, so this year more than 100 athletes from fourteen countries will flock to the resort.

The Olympic Games had just started, so the organizers did not see the purpose of organizing competitions for adults, but focused on the youth age group up to 23 years old.

"Soon, on September 2, the U20 World Championship will start in Pontevedra (Spain), and in the second half of October, the U23 World Championship will be held in Tirana (Albania). Therefore, at the moment, such a tournament is more relevant for young people, especially since at least in Europe there are not too many UWW level competitions for young people, - said national team coach Mindaugas Ežerskis about the decision to slightly adjust the format. - We can see that the temporary changes also suited foreigners who reserved places right after last year's tournament. The interest is huge, because everyone sees the conditions, the level of competition, and the cozy atmosphere of Druskininkai. We could not even meet the requests of several states due to lack of space."

The coach mentioned that the US delegation has already arrived in Druskininki, Scandinavians, Moldovans, and Ukrainians are settling.

After the competition, the vast majority of athletes will stay at the resort, where they will spend ten days in a wrestling training camp.

The competition will be held at the LSC sports complex "Druskininkai" (M. K. Čiurlionio str. 115 A)
