The program features works by Franz Schubert, Johannes Brahms, Clara and Robert Schumann, as well as 19th-century songs and arias
Inspired by pianist Guoda Gedvilaitė, the chamber music concert series “Clara Schumann’s Salon” invites listeners to travel back to the 19th century, encounter the geniuses of the Romantic era, and revel in their music.
The 19th century produced a wealth of talented artists, leading to the flourishing of literary and musical salons across Europe. It was in these salons that artists had the opportunity to perform, present their work, secure lucrative commissions, and attract the attention of wealthy patrons.
We invite you—along with many distinguished duchesses, princesses, countesses, patrons, and guests from around the world—to dress up and gather, to come and listen to wonderful songs at the Schumann family’s music salon in Düsseldorf. Clara Schumann herself will perform here alongside her famous stage partner Jenny Lind—also known as the Swedish Nightingale—and her most loyal concert partner in the song repertoire, the German Julius Stockhausen.
The event will be filmed, photographed, and publicized
