Vytautas Poška's exhibition "Date at the Dew Point"

In scientific terms, the Dew Point is the temperature at which water vapor in the air condenses into liquid water, which forms dew, fog, or even rain. The dew point is always lower than or equal to the air temperature, which is why dew or fog forms in the early morning hours, when the air temperature is usually the lowest, and the dew point is the highest. I painted many of the paintings exhibited in the exhibition in the early morning hours. For me, the dew point is a symbol of a transition to another, creative space. The rising fog summarizes the space, hides everything that is unimportant, all everyday details, and allows you to "rise above the ground", move away from everyday problems, dream and paint in another space. It can be a life path, a dream, or footprints in the sand, in the dunes, which will be covered up in just a moment. All that will remain is a wave, like a symbol of infinity, a trail of sunlit mist over the water, steps to the sky disappearing into the clouds, or thoughts flying somewhere far away.
“As if caught in spider webs, V. Poška’s strokes vibrate, repeat, and intertwine like notes, the main melody of a musical piece. The depth created in watercolors allows the viewer’s gaze and thoughts to wander freely across the landscape. By conveying reflections, light, and shadows in a particularly suggestive way, V. Poška creates strongly atmospheric, emotionally affecting works,” says art critic Austėja Mikuckytė-Mateikienė. The exhibition is dedicated to the 150th anniversary of M. K. Čiurlionis.
