Čiurlionis and Chips Vol. 6: Kotryna Onaitytė
Hütte continues its summer event series Čiurlionis and Chips and invites you to a meeting with our artist-in-residence, Kotryna Onaitytė.
Kotryna Onaitytė is a young-generation artist born in Šiauliai and is currently pursuing her Master’s in Painting at the Vilnius Academy of Arts. In 2025, Kotryna won the Zabolis Art Prize, one of the most important recognitions for young artists in Lithuania. In her work, Kotryna is interested in exploring borderline states. Her pieces range from studies of endangered plants to the bodies of bodybuilders, and she experiments with various means of expression, working with textiles alongside painting while seeking interdisciplinary approaches. The influence of Čiurlionis unexpectedly emerged in her work during last year’s residency in Žiogeliai, resulting in a painting that reinterprets Čiurlionis’ Serenity.
This year in Žiogeliai, Kotryna plans to step away from the themes she is currently exploring for her Master’s work and hopes to spend this time without setting strict creative boundaries for herself.
