XI Tarptautinis festivalis "Druskininkų vasaros teatro SANKRYŽA"

"SANKRYŽA“ is not only a feast, it is also a meeting place of prominent and new performances‘ authors, theater stars, beginners and artists, who had won international awards.
The off program of the festival consists of discussions about performances with actors, spectators and media representatives, meetings with prominent actors, presentations of movies on theater and theater directors.

The international jury (five representatives from cultural and theatrical field from various countries) evaluates Lithuanian performances and plays from various countries and award their nominees.

Charlie Chaplin “THE KID”, silent movie and live music for the whole family

Keyboard virtuoso Dmitry Golovanov, will perform his improvisation on the comic drama of silent films, the famous film Charlie Chaplin's “The Kid” (1921).

And perhaps most of all, Edith Piaf’s soul, whispering her timeless credo: “Never stop believing in love, whatever happens.”

This performance-concert features the works, poems, and letters of Čiurlionis and Ravel, as well as compositions by their contemporaries. A musical and poetic journey into a soul where two eras meet.

"WHEN YOU REALLY WANT TO LIVE, BUT YOU DON'T KNOW HOW"

Actress Emilija Latėnaitė will embody four women from different eras, countries, and social classes – all searching for their true selves. Their stories reveal a timeless truth: the world may change, but the deepest questions of human existence remain the same. The performance features works by Tarquinio Merula, Alessandro Stradella, and original music performed live by the duo “Duettissimo” – cellist Gleb Pyšniak and violinist Dalia Dėdinskaitė.

Who is she, this whimsical Old Lady, stuck at the crossroads of the world and history, hovering between heaven and earth, madness and unconsciousness, poetry and prose? “THE DREAM OF A RIDICULOUS MAN” (Great Britain), in English

The hero of this story lives suspended between two worlds – the harsh reality surrounding him and the dream of an ideal world glimpsed in a vision. In our performance, these two realms are brought to life by two great artists: F. M. Dostoevsky and M. K. Čiurlionis. The “Pyramid Sonata” and “Portraits” cycles, along with the symphonic poem “Forest” are used in a performance. Today, Dostoevsky’s short story feels more relevant than ever.
